Hatem Bazian: Let me maybe focus on the campus for a minute. Uh, the universities have been increasingly engaged in attempting to forge a Muslim-Zionist, uh, campus climate uh, atmosphere. Which essentially is to silence Palestine under the guise that we’re fighting Islamophobia, we’re fighting anti-Semitism, and this also is reflected on a national scale with the relationship that is being formed, or the, uh, the community that was being formed between ISNA and AJC, American Jewish uh, Committee. And here, if you’re engaged in any type of campus political type of machinations, to realize that, if you’re going to take on Islamophobia, uh, realize that it’s almost 75% of the funding for the Islamophobic industry comes from pro-Zionist sources.
And again, when AJC wanted to create this council, actually the person came all the way out to Berkeley because they appointed this person from AJC, he came out to meet with me, I said, well before you begin the discussion on anything relative to Islamophobia, you actually created and provided the space in civil society for the Islamophobic voices.
So I think we need to be sophisticated to understand, not every hug that is coming to you is a hug that you need to take.
